Charity Event: Jace for Jacy
Comics Plus is holding a charity event for one of the local players. Below is copied directly from the store’s website:
Hey everyone, we are trying to rally the Magic the Gathering community and anyone else who would like to join us for a charity benefit event.
Mark is a local Magic player who has supported all the local shops at one time or another and now it is our turn to support him and his family. Mark has a young daughter who has been very brave through an extremely difficult time, her name is Jacy.
Jacy is an energetic, cheerful little girl who loves animals, playing sports, cooking and being with her friends. On Dec 2, 2013 everything changed when the doctors delivered to her parents that one word that no one ever wants to hear. ‘CANCER’ to be specific, Leukemia.
Her family moved to a small town here in New Hampshire when she was just 15 months old. Although they have support from back home, it is difficult being so far from their support system of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends.
We are looking for donations for prize support from shops, groups, or individuals. On February 28th we are going to hold a day full of fill and fire events where you will win points for prizes, more info coming soon. All entry fees will be going to the family. To help boost the donation that day we are also going to have a 50% off back issue (excluding wall books and variants) sale so our friends who read comic books can help our cause, 10% of all Back Issue sales will also be going to the family.
Events start at 9am.
Standard, Modern, Legacy, and Limited events all day.
Points for entering and round wins.
Tons of prizes based on points.
Play one of our gunslingers to win more points.
Silent auction held throughout the day for great items!
After talking to the store I’ve found out that any donations to the prizes for this event can be delivered in person to the store or can be mailed to the store directly with a note attached as to your intent. Money donations to the family may also be given, and should be addressed to the store (Comics Plus) or Scott Abeels with a note attached that they are for the charity event. The store’s mailing address is:
